Moments.

By jeffbell

Baptism.  Each person responds uniquely in his or her own personality. There’s joy. Sometimes tears. Sometimes a nervous “antsy-ness”. It can be quite overwhelming.

I love the moments.

  • The moment when you look them in the eye, asking them to affirm their faith.  In front of everyone. Time stands still.
  • The moment when you see the resolve sweep over them. The energy. This is a new day. I belong to Jesus, and I want everyone to know.
  • The moments under water – what a big thing this is. There’s trust, it can be a little scary for some. Yet I’ve never had anyone fight. Even if it’s a moment of anxiety, there’s peace. There’s confidence. I’m all in. There’s no turning back. It’s not me anymore. My life is His.
  • The moment when they emerge from the water. Wow. Tears of joy. Relief. Hugs. Cheers. Laughter. Celebration!

I love the moments.

Over 400 people were baptized during our weekend services at both GCC campuses.  The number is big, true.  But the number is individual. Each individual chose to let their friends, their family and the world know that Jesus is their Savior and they intend to follow Him with all their life and with all they have.

Each person had their own moments.
